Transcription: Teleprinters are used to send messages via telephone lines. The system was devised by the Markram company at the beginning of the 1900s. It went into operation in the 1920s and is now commonly termed telex, which is derived from the words teleprinter and exchange. The telex machine is now being superseded by the facsimile machine.
